Q: How close to my hotel check in date can I order a Romantic Hotel Room Decor Package in Monterey County?
A: Due to high demand, orders must be placed at least 72 hours in advance of your hotel check-in time. If you are ordering for a design to be performed inside of the 72 hour check-in window, please contact us at toll free 1-888-871-3248 extension 1 to place your order and confirm availability. With every order for a local hotel room design, we will contact you to confirm your order and go over the details including the available decor times on your date selected.
Q: I want to order a romantic room design for my hotel room on the Monterey Peninsula but I don't want it delivered until after I have checked in. Can you still perform your service?
A: Yes - we can decorate at any time during your stay. Typically, as long as we have you sign a waiver and the hotel agent walks us to the room to let us in, we have been okay.
Q: Can I order a romantic room design if I am staying in a hotel that is not within Monterey County, California?
A: We only deliver and set-up hotel rooms with Monterey County. However, with our Romance Inside A Box, all the supplies for a romantic evening are sent directly to your home or to your hotel anywhere in the U.S. along with design instructions. We can even coordinate the design with your hotel of choice.
Q: I don't know anything about designing a hotel room for romance. If I order one of your Romance Inside A Box products, will I really be able to decorate the room so that it looks nice?
A: Yes. Design instructions (view example) are included and the photos on the website can help guide you as well. The hardest part is finding the right products and all of that hard work has been done for you. You can also contact one of our customer service representatives for advice. For men: lots of guys have ordered our products and have been able to get the job done!
Q: Do you allow re-sellers to order from you at a wholesale rate?
A: We do not allow wholesale rates at this time.
Q: What is your product substitution policy?
A: In the rare instance when demand outstrips supply of a particular item, we will replace it with one of equal or greater value at no additional charge.
Q: Do you ship chocolate in your Romance Inside A Box packages all year round?
A: Due to warm weather patterns, we cannot ship chocolate from May - August. Many of the chocolate items that may melt are replaced with other gourmet food of equal or greater value.
Q: How do I personalize one of your products with either a written or verbal message?
A: You can personalize certain packages (as noted) in one of two ways. Some of our packages offer the options of adding a voice chip. Just simply type in the text (maximum of a 10 second read) and the message will be recorded and ready for play upon your arrival (note male or female voice preference).

For packages offering personalized written messages, just type in the text you would like us to use and we will transfer and print it out on the specified object at no additional charge. There is a 500 character limit to ensure your text fits on the paper.
Q: What About International Order Custom Fees?
A: We can ship internationally! Keep in mind that package travel times and shipping cost will be a bit higher. Shipments are subject to the restrictions of the host country (although we have not found any as of yet).

We are not responsible for any brokerage or customs clearing fees, duties or taxes that may apply to your shipment and will not issue refunds for these fees under any circumstances. We make no representation regarding such charges--consult your local jurisdiction or your shipping carrier.
Q: Where does Romance Inside A Box and your gift items ship?
A: Our stated shipping rates are for within the U.S. only. If you wish to ship anywhere else in the world, please contact us with the item you wish to purchase and the exact shipping address and we will get back to you promptly with the exact shipping fees.
Q: How long does it take to process and receive my order?
A: Please allow approximately 1 business day to process your order. We ship via UPS ground for our Romance Inside A Box orders which will get your package to you between 1 - 6 business days (after processing time), depending on where you live (Western US typically 1-2 days; MidWest about 4 days and Eastern US about 5-6 days). This also allows us to track the status of your package.

If you need a last minute romantic gift shipped to you (your anniversary is THIS weekend) and require special arrangements for faster shipping, please contact us and we will do everything possible to expedite your order (additional fee will apply).

For Our Romantic Gift Items, we typically ship via USPS Priority Mail. Please allow just one business day for processing. Packages arrive within 1 - 3 business days (including Saturdays) after processing time. Please note that USPS does track packages from their origin to the final destination but do not require a signature. USPS does not guarantee delivery times but over the past two years, all but one of our packages have arrived in the 1 - 3 business day time frame that they have quoted to us. If a package shows that it was delivered to the address you provided on your order form, we consider this to be delivered and the order fulfilled. In rare circumstances - typically when sent to an apartment or corporate office, someone else may receive your package on your behalf or a notice may be left requiring you to pick up your package at your local post office. If you wish to have signature confirmation added, please contact us to let us know (typically an additional $1.75 surcharge). For Express Overnight Packages, the delivery time is guaranteed to be 1 - 2 business days after processing time.

Q: How much does shipping cost?
A: For most of our Romance Inside A Box orders, we ship UPS Ground and charge the appropriate amount which is typically between $8 - $15. Expedited shipping is available at an additional charge. Gift Items sent through USPS Priority Mail average an $8 shipping fee. We do not pad our shipping fees - you are charged what we are charged.
Q: What is your return policy?
A: We take extra special care in shipping out your gift boxes. However, the delivery is not always perfect. Claims on any damaged goods (Romance Inside A Box only) must be made within (7) days of receipt of goods. Authorized returns by Romantic Room Designs must be sent back to Romantic Room Designs at 5015 Beachwood Drive, Seaside, CA 93955, for product replacement only. We will provide you with a prepaid UPS mailing label. Please contact us at sales@romanticroomdesigns.com to initiate a return.
Q: What is your cancellation policy on orders?
A: For Romance Inside A Box and gift items, once the order is placed it is final (since it is processed almost immediately). For Romantic Room Designs (local design service in Monterey County), you must give at least 3 days notice prior to your scheduled delivery date in order to receive a complete refund less a $25 restocking fee. Cancellations inside of the 3- day window are subject to a cancellation fee equal to 50 percent of your entire order and no-shows are subject to a 100% cancellation penalty. Guest who provide incorrect guest registration information are also subject to the cancellation fee.
Q: Do all hotels allow me to use candles? Can you please explain any candle safety tips.
A: Some hotels do not allow the use of candles in their rooms. In the event your hotel has restrictions against the use of candles, we will replace the regular votive candles with LED 45-hour flicker candles in votive holders (due to higher cost, may be 1 - 2 fewer candles but these look great and can be "lit" prior to your arrival).

Candles are safe products but may become hazardous when used improperly or in an unsafe manner. The National Candle Association recommends the following safety tips when burning a candle:
  • Always keep a burning candle with sight. Extinguish all candles when leave a room or before going to sleep.
  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Keep burning candles away from furniture, drapes, bedding, carpets, books, paper, flammable decorations, etc.
  • Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets, Do not place lighted candles where they can be knocked over by children, pets or anyone else.
  • Read and carefully follow all manufacturer instructions.
  • Trim candlewicks to 1/4 inch each time before burning. Long or crooked wicks cause uneven burning and dripping.
  • Always use a candleholder specifically designed for candle use. The holder should be heat resistant, sturdy and large enough to contain any drips or melted wax. Be sure the candleholder is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Keep burning candles away from drafts, vents and air currents. This will help prevent rapid, uneven burning, smoking and excessive dripping. Drafts can also blow lightweight curtains or papers into the flame where they could catch fire. Ceiling fans can cause drafts.
  • Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.
  • Do not burn a candle for longer than the manufacturer recommends.
  • Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room.
  • Extinguish the flame it it comes too closed to the holder or container. For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when 2 inched of wa remains (1/2 inch if in a container). This will also help prevent possible heat damage to the counter/surface and prevent glass containers from cracking or breaking.
  • Extinguish pillar candles if the wax pool approaches the outer edge.
  • Candles should be placed at least three inches apart from one another. This is to be sure they don't melt one another, or create their own drafts that will cause the candles to burn improperly.
